Many of you may have known Michael K. (Mike) Wynne, the Column Editor for Technology for the Division 11 Perspectives. Mike suddenly passed away in October, after fighting battles with acute transverse myelitis and meningitis. An obituary appeared in The ASHA Leader (Vol. 8, No. 21, November 18, 2003) which described Mike’s outstanding contributions to ASHA, as well as to other professional organizations. He truly gave from his heart and soul to better our professions. This past year (2003), Division 11 Perspectives concentrated on providing articles on mentoring in each of the issues, so I would like to tell you about Mike’s abilities as a mentor. He was my program and doctoral dissertation advisor while I attended Wichita State University. I was the first doctoral student whom he hooded.
