ASHA research symposiums are designed to educate and focus research on emerging topics in communication sciences and disorders. This symposium will focus on topics related to central control of the auditory and speech-motor peripheries. A major goal of the symposium is to inform researchers and clinicians of important advances in our understanding of functional organization and roles such central control plays in normal and disordered aspects of hearing and speech. Armed with such information, researchers and clinicians can address pressing research issues in these areas and more effectively integrate recent findings into the clinical practice of speech-language pathology and audiology.
